Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations: Act as a point of contact and resource for employees, develop and maintain employee relations, advise managers on ways to build and maintain solid teams
  • Performance Management: Identify training opportunities, work with managers to develop performance plans, manage discipline issues in conjunction with upper management
  • Recruitment: Support the recruitment process to help meet demand, source and interview candidates, liaise with agency partners, prepare new employee packages
  • Health and Safety: Manage the Health & Safety program and work closely with the JHSC, develop and implement procedures and programs to ensure the safety of all employees, manage work related incident reports (WSIB, Return to Work, leave of absence due to injury, etc.), prepare reports, conduct monthly safety inspections
  • Benefit Administration: Act as the sole plan administrator for the company’s group benefit plan (including enrolling new employees, termination of benefits, managing claim statements, etc).
  • Other HR Functions: Attendance tracking, develop and deliver internal communication pieces, writing/editing/improving and providing education on HR policies and procedures, liaise with the payroll department, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Management or related field, CHRP/L is an asset
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Results driven and able to plan and implement HR initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of employment legislation, WSIB, claims management
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to use good judgment
  • Self-starter, flexible and a confident positive attitude
