TIG/MIG Welder Fitter

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
- Lay-out, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to weld using straightedges, combination squares, calipers and rulers
- Examine for defects and measure the work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to welding trade
- Weld separately or in combination using mild steel, stainless steel and other alloys
- Develop welding projects by analyzing work orders, prints, and completed assembly; calculating requirements; studying metals; determining appropriate welding techniques
- Fabricate components by using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces; setting-up and measuring assemblies; selecting appropriate method
- Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds
- Maintain safe work environment by following internal procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs, as needed
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (masks, eye protection, steel-toed footwear, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a TIG/MIG Welder
- Strong working knowledge of various metal finishing tools and methods
- Must have the ability and experience working with different types and functions of metal (ranging from aluminum to mild steel, stainless steel etc.)
- Speed, manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude and physical coordination
- Good oral and written communication skills (English)
- Must be willing to take initiative to inspect own work for quality compliance
